No matter the label, Whitewood has been truly aware of its responsibility towards our surroundings and the world we operate in. Real and measurable.
All aspects of what we do are monitored, measured, controlled and reported. If measuring is knowing. We don’t just follow the path, we set the trail.
Of course in our projects and in the implementation of the strategy our investors require. But Whitewood goes further. As a real estate partner, but also as a company. We truly care about the world we live in and try to act accordingly in everything we do.
When it comes to ESG, we don’t just follow the path, we set the trail.
Task force
Cityforward, the urban transformation fund, anchored by the Belgian Sovereign Wealth Fund and Ethias and managed by Whitewood, has been analyzing the acquisition of 21 buildings in the European Area of Brussels in early 2023. As a testimony to Whitewood’s collaborative mindset in all its dealings, in parallel to the deal analysis, we have started a discussion with the Cabinet of the then State Secretary Pascal Smet, which was continued with the cabinet of his successor, Mrs Ans Persoons. Together we have created the Project Schuman Task Force, which include all the different (public) entities and departments that have a say in the urban planning of projects in this neighbourhood. Doing so, it allowed all involved to weigh in on the program and ensure that the different stakeholders can find a palatable solution for their respective focus points.
The result will be a program for the neighbourhood that will ensure the highest possible ESG quality, combined with a mix of uses, blending working, living and leisure activities in a human size area, catering to different interests and ensuring wellbeing for all. But most importantly, it will be program that from the onset, will be supported by all stakeholders as it will reflect the convergence of what each holds dear.

Tweeperenboom Partnership
Tweeperenboom is an association that guides people, organizations and sectors in order to cope with an ever changing and increasingly fast society. They enable people and organizations to cope with these aspects and ensure that they will continue to be able to do so autonomously by working on resilience, agility and connectivity.
Integrating people that struggle with these aspects into a micro economy in the village of Winksele near Leuven, where a meeting center, a micro-brewery and a co-working area have been erected, Tweeperenboom, successfully establishes this example of social management.
Whitewood supports Tweeperenboom through a participation in the acquisition of a neighbouring house, which allowed the micro economy that was established, to expand.

Herakles Youth Academy
We invest in growth and education for the younger generations. The spirit and DNA of the Herakles Hockey Club, perfectly fits the mind set of Whitewood. We are therefore proud to be a long term partner of the club, supporting the youth academy to promote a healthy lifestyle to children and adolescents, channelling their competitiveness, pushing their ambition and ensuring that they are well surrounded by able staff.
Next to the financial partnership that Whitewood has engaged in, we also offer internships to Herakles Members, that excel in the classroom next to the hockey pitch. Our most adamant advocate of this program is our own Alexis Leclef, that started his career during a Whitewood internship, continued with first professional challenges at PWC Corporate Finance and Boston Consulting Group, to rejoin our ranks as an investment analyst in 2023.
